Gyles Brandreth, previously famous as a television presenter on TV-am's 'Good Morning Britain', became Conservative MP for Chester on Apr 10 1992 with a majority of 1,101 at the age of 44. He attended Bedales School and Oxford University where he directed the dramatic society, edited 'Isis' and became President of the Union. Married with three children, he has a business career with a chain of wool-shops called New for Knitting and is a director of Spear's Games. He has also experienced business failures so he understands the realities of people's problems. He is renowned as a public speaker and is an excellent communicator.

Agent Adam Wide has to audition many hundreds of untalented would-be comedians in order to find the few who are good enough to be used for public performances. He also seeks new talent among singers, magicians and dancers, and is involved in writing scripts, coordinating choreography and managing more than 100 seasonal staff. He was formerly a bit-part actor, but has now become extremely successful through supplying new comedy talent.

Such a caring, sharing business

Estate agents have traditionally had a very poor public image, with most people not trusting them. They are now responding by trying to create a new image. Customers are being encouraged to nominate agencies for awards, and those nominated are visited anonymously by judges to assess standards of service. Estate agents are now also becoming in wider issues, such as changes to the law, rather than simply focusing on making money.
