Valley trapped in a vortex of revenge
Article Abstract:
There is a strong atmosphere of suspicion and violence in the poor community of Gurnos, Wales, following the decision by the Court of Appeal to quash the conviction of Annettee Hewins for her alleged involvement in an arson attack in which Diane Jones and her two young daughters died. It was believed that Hewins undertook the attack with Donna Clarke, who had an affair with the victim's husband, and Denise Sullivan. The Court of Appeal also reduced Sullivan's sentence and freed both her and Clarke. The families of Jones and her husband believe that they have been betrayed by the legal system.

Is the phantom menace of hype overshadowing the art of cinema?
Article Abstract:
Warner Bros has carefully controlled the marketing of Stanley Kubrick's film 'Eyes Wide Shut.' Kubrick's death before the film's release ensured that the film would attract widespread attention, but Warner Bros has also boosted interest by refusing to release details in advance of the press screening. Similarly, the marketing of 'The Phantom Menace' has been carefully manipulated by Twentieth Century Fox. In particular, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on merchandising relating to the film.
