Islington is where the Hollywood stars shine
Article Abstract:
A number of Hollywood film stars are planning to appear in productions at the Almeida theatre in Islington, London, England. This theatre has an extremely ambitious casting policy, but this seems to have reaped benefits. Indeed, it is regarded by some observers as the most interesting theatre venue in the city. Liam Neeson is to play Oscar Wilde in David Hare's new play 'The Judas Kiss,' while Kevin Spacey will appear in Eugene O'Neill's 'The Iceman Cometh' in Apr 1998. The theatre's strong reputation attracts actors who could normally expect to earn a lot more.

Exeunt omnes. Farewell then to the Old Vic
Article Abstract:
The Peter Hall Company faces an uncertain future as Ed and David Mirvish prepare to sell the Old Vic theatre in London, England. This company has been performing seven days a week at the Old Vic since early 1997, and those associated with it report that there has been a wonderful family atmosphere, even though it has been very hard work. The company's approach has been very suited to the Old Vic as a building, while the Old Vic has brought benefits to the company.

Britannia rules the stage
Article Abstract:
Many American film actors and actresses have been working on the stage in the UK during 1996. This is partly because there are few opportunities for stage work in the US and partly because acting on the stage in the UK is regarded as a valuable career move, even though it is not financially rewarding. In some case, directors like to use actors and actresses who have genuine American accents.
