Israel and Hizbollah swap their dead
Article Abstract:
Israel and the Hezbollah exchanged prisoners and corpses on July 21 1996. The 123 dead members of Hezbollah were taken back to southern Lebanon in wooden boxes in lorries, whilst the Israelis were taken back in steel coffins on a German military plane. There were difficulties exchanging the prisoners, 45 Hezbollahs who had been held at Khiam prison, and 17 members of the Israeli proxy militia. It appeared that the Israelis were not keen to return to Israel. The Hezbollah prisoners were forced to wait in buses in the heat.

Sounds of fury rise from wreckage of a town that became a charnel house
Article Abstract:
The recent earthquake in the Anatolia region of Turkey had a particularly severe impact on the port of Yalova, where as many as 10,000 people may have died. The very high death toll in this town is being attributed by local people to the fact that many of its homes were built to a very poor standard by construction company Mesa, with which the local mayor is linked. Yalova's residents continue to search for survivors, although almost all of those being dug out of the ruins are now dead.
