The terrorist attacks in the US have clearly had a severe economic impact in certain sectors, including air travel. However, the world economy was moving towards recession even before the attacks, and the attacks merely accelerated this trend. The economic damage done by terrorism will not be permanent, but the recession will be deeper than would otherwise have been the case.
