Pianist Jeanne-Marie Darre studied with Marguerite Long at the Paris Conservatoire before taking lessons with Isidore Philipp. She made her debut in Paris, France, at the age of 20, but had already begun recording at the age of 18. She made her US debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, in 1962. She played regularly in the US until she retired from performing concerts in the early 1980s. She did not record a great deal, although she made several respected recordings.

Joseph Cooper

Pianist and broadcaster Joseph Cooper was born in Westbury-on-Trym, England, in 1912. He gained an organ scholarship to Keble College, Oxford, England, and served with the Royal Artillery during the second world war. He then establishing a successful concert career.

Halina Czerny-Stefanska

Pianist Halina Czerny-Stefanska was born in Krakow, Poland, in 1922. She studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, France, from the age of 12. Her career was launched when she won the Fourth International Chopin Competition in 1949.
