Kathy Acker
Article Abstract:
Writer and performance artist Kathy Acker had a strained relationship with her mother from an early age, and believed that this gave her a rebellious nature. She became involved in the avant-garde in New York, NY, at 14, and was greatly influenced by the second generation of Black Mountain poets and film-makers. She studied under Herbert Marcuse at the University of California in San Diego from 1965, and produced her first book, 'Politics,' at the age of 21.
