Lonely world of technology
Article Abstract:
Technology has been presented as an aid to parenting. A nursery can offer parents progress reports on their children through the Internet. A TV advertisement for a mobile phone depicts it as a way for a mother to keep in touch with her small son when she is abroad. Only a small proportion of people on the planet have access to the Internet, while many people are illiterate. Caring labor is important for social cohesion and individual development, and is under pressure due to the competitive market. Children cannot be cared for through the Internet. Technology can make the isolation of parents from children appear normal.

The pretensions and pretence of an absurd family
Article Abstract:
It is very hard to accept that the current situation within the Royal Family, with the Queen refusing to abdicate and Prince Charles hesitating to marry Camilla Parker Bowles, may persist for many years. It is particularly alarming that there is still such strong public support for the Royal Family, despite the controversy created by Prince Charles's failed marriage. It is wrong to claim that allowing Prince Charles to replace the Queen would revitalize the monarchy.
