Lucre made the spires what they are
Article Abstract:
Academics in Oxford, England, have been very misguided in rejecting plans by Wafic Said to invest 20 million pounds sterling in a business school for the centre of the city. The decision reflects the traditional opposition in Oxford to wealthy investors, especially if they are from abroad. The new building would certainly make the centre of the city more crowded, but Oxford has thrived on crowding for many generations. A business school would create new jobs for the city, thus ensuring that it does not decline into being simply a tourist attraction.

A match made in heaven
Article Abstract:
Comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel are likely to have a very positive influence on ITV's audience numbers for the 1998 World Cup. They have become associated with football through their 'Fantasy Football League' programme for the BBC, which proved extremely popular. They will now repeat this format in a live version on ITV, a venture which they recognize will present considerable challenges. Their show will be extremely topical, as they will be writing it until very shortly before it is broadcast.

The DNA made me do it, M'lud
Article Abstract:
There has been extensive debate over recent years about claims that genetics and biology can assist in explaining the causes of violent and criminal behaviour. Some research claims to have shown a link between violence and crime and genetics, but in fact these results cannot be applied to the population as a whole. Studies connecting biology and crime have failed even to establish a believable association between the two.
