Making sense of Miss Thompson's sensibility
Article Abstract:
Emma Thompson is not the best British actress, but has special qualities which allow her to give outstanding film performances. She has proved extremely effective on film, and has gained widespread respect. She seems to have a distinctive persona which goes with her from film to film, and each performance comes ultimately from her own character. This persona is particularly well suited to Jane Austen, as shown in the recent film 'Sense and Sensibility.'
