Meet the new bossa
Article Abstract:
Brazilian composer Marcos Valle is very pleased that the Brazilian musical style bossa nova is now appealing to a new market. He feels that the revival of bossa nova has given him renewed energy. Until the revival took place, he had not recorded for some time, although he had been working as a songwriter. He was persuaded to consider making a recording by DJ and Far Out Recordings record label owner Joe Davis, who had been familiar with his music for some time. The resulting album is entitled 'Nova Bossa Nova.'

It ain't bossa nova, and don't call me jazz
Article Abstract:
Jazz is very important for the Brazilian musical form bossa nova, according to Brazilian guitarist, composer and pianist Ebgerto Gismonti. However, he does not feel able to play any kind of jazz, even though he admires many jazz musicians. He taught himself to play the guitar in isolation, and this is why his technique cannot be copied. He has a strong interest in Brazilian culture and people, and tries to tell a story in each of his albums.
