A sludge of ash blankets the dead, destroyed capital
Article Abstract:
A volcanic eruption in Montserrat has left most of the capital, Plymouth, buried under sludge. Plymouth has been left uninhabitable with the center destroyed, and rebuilding the capital would be too expensive. Mudflows could be a problem if a major storm occurs. The town has been left to burn since it is too risky to allow firemen to enter. A new capital may be set up in northern Montserrat which has been little affected by the volcano. Tis would encourage refugees to return.

Too tired to celebrate and too scared to return home
Article Abstract:
Refugees from Kosovo, Yugoslavia, have reacted calmly to news of a peace agreement. They do not wish to return to Kosovo unless some protection is provided by the United Nations or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato). There are reports that lack of food is a problem in Kosovo, and rapid aid may be needed to prevent starvation. Towns and villages have been destroyed, and refugees have had their savings stolen by paramilitaries on their journey out of Kosovo.
