Animals have emotions, and it is vital that these are taken into account when treating them, according to vet Chris Day, of the Alternative Veterinary Medicine Centre in Oxfordshire, England. He treats animals with the same homeopathic medicines as humans, and spends a long time over consultations. He also uses acupuncture, which he believes treats the animal as an energetic whole. He is now secretary of the British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons.

There are a number of principles within the ancient oriental philosophy of Feng Shui which can be applied to interior design. According to the philosophy, it is important to have the right energy in a house, rather than just the right furniture. Blocked or unbalanced energy can cause considerable health, financial or social problems, and it is therefore vital to place all furniture in the correct place.

Some artists are very keen to use the many natural and man-made items which can be found on the seashore, converting them into very unusual works of art.
