No haven for young refugees
Article Abstract:
The UK has very harsh regulations with regard to unaccompanied children who enter the country to claim asylum. Indeed, unaccompanied children are seven times less likely to be granted refugee status than people in their 20s. This is because children usually cannot provide the strict proofs of political persecution demanded by the immigration authorities. Refugees, especially children, will continue to be victimized under the new Immigration and Asylum Bill.

Will they ever return home?
Article Abstract:
It is naive to assume that the ethnic Albanians who have fled Kosovo, Yugoslavia, will simply return there once the conflict comes to an end. Their homes have be destroyed, and they will not be able to live alongside the Serbs who were responsible for atrocities against them. Refugees should be free to make their own choices about their future, and Western countries must accept that they may have make arrangements to accept Kosovars on a permanent basis.
