On a butterfly wing and a prayer
Article Abstract:
Scientific claims on the meaning of life are more popular in the 1990s than religion and several books and articles have been published in April and May 1992 about science, God and man. Books by Bryan Appleyard and Mary Midgley discuss the theme that the scientific approach of dissecting the universe to find out how it works is out-of-date. Science provides impersonal knowlege but provides no foundation formorals, aesthetic judgements or human relations. Some natural processes are unmeasurable precisely and display inevitable chaos. The universe may be incomprehensible with science limited to restricted knowledge.

A wing and a prayer
Article Abstract:
Bird species do not seem to be affected equally by human disturbance, the main cause of bird species becoming extinct. Research on this subject has focused on whether threatened species simply arise randomly, or whether certain species are more predisposed to extinction than others. It was established that a bird's evolutionary past has an impact on its ability to meet modern challenges to its survival. In particular, species with large bodies and small egg clutches are prone to extinction.

On the wing and a prayer
Article Abstract:
New Zealand-born rugby player Jonah Lomu came to public attention very suddenly in 1994, when he was selected to play against the touring French. He was the youngest player ever to be selected for an All Black Test team. His early appearances were not particularly impressive, but he soon showed that he had the determination required to make a career as a top-class rugby player. He had a strict religious upbringing, and attributes his success to God.
