Becoming self-sufficient in fruit and vegetables can be very hard work, according to gardener Phil Rooksby, who had little experience of gardening when he decided to embark upon self-sufficiency. He now grows a wide range of fruit and vegetables, but still has many worries. He has had to make dramatic changes is his life, and it has been necessary to make many sacrifices in order to obtain the supplies he has required to achieve self-sufficiency.
