Perfect for the White House, a disaster for the Middle East
Article Abstract:
It is clear that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will never show the sort of courage required to bring about a peace settlement in the Middle East. He focuses on securing his own position, rather than on wider issues, and has been seen to be manipulative and divisive. His rejection of the Oslo accords as betrayal and treachery has helped to foster a climate in which fanatics become reassured that their actions are justified. Israel now needs a leader who is prepared to take a stand against fundamentalists and to put together a strong majority in favour of a peaceful settlement with Palestine.

It is vital to invest to boost the reliability of public transport options and to reduce their cost. This will encourage people to make a personal choice, and a rising spiral of improving public transport can then be established.

My advice to Mr Hague on how to regain popularity
Article Abstract:
UK Conservative party leader William Hague is generally regarded by fellow MPs as performing well, but his popularity among ordinary voters remains extremely low. This is attributable to forces outside his control. He is being negatively affected by the fact that the Conservative party has always been a coalition between big business and the petty bourgeoisie. He cannot gain the support of big business unless he takes a more positive stance on Europe, but this would mean a reversal of the party's policy.
