Pete Tong: the 'god of dance music' who moves records in mysterious ways
Article Abstract:
Radio 1 disc jockey Pete Tong has established an extremely powerful position on the dance music scene in the UK. He has run the dance record label FFrr, a subsidiary of London99 Records, since 1988, and also makes his own records, owns a radio production company and writes newspaper columns. The BBC seems to tolerate his extensive commercial interests because it needs to attract key figures from the dance culture. He is seen as having helped to save Radio 1 after the departure of disc jockey Chris Evans in 1994.

Article Abstract:
There has been extensive media coverage in the UK of people who are alleged to have worked as spies for the KGB and other secret services during the Cold War. However, not all the people who have been named recently can be seen as spies. Their role was that of an agent of influence, having an impact on public opinion.
