Professor Lawrence Stone
Article Abstract:
Historian Lawrence Stone gained a scholarship to Christ Church, Oxford, England, and also studied in Paris, France. He served in the Navy during the second world war, and graduated in 1946. He was elected a Fellow of Wadham College in 1950. His first book, 'Sculpture in Britain: the Middle Ages,' was published in 1955. He became Dodge Professor of History at Princeton University in 1963, and was Chmn of the History Dept between 1967 and 1970.

Gerald Aylmer

Historian Gerald Aylmer was born in Stoke, England, in 1926. He studied history at Balliol College, Oxford, England, between 1947 and 1950, and in 1954 joined the History Department at Manchester University, England. He was founding Professor of the History Department at York University, England, in 1962.
