Randolph Symonette
Article Abstract:
Singer Randolph Symonette did not begin singing professionally until he was in his mid-30s. He studied with former tenor Paul Althouse in New York in the mid-1940s, and in Mar 1945 appeared on Broadway at the Alvin Theatre in a production of Kurt Weill's 'The Firebrand of Florence.' He appeared in Menotti's 'The Consul,' which opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theater in 1950, and in 1952 sang in Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' at the New York City Center. Later in his career, his appearances were mainly in Wagner.

Martha Modl
Article Abstract:
Opera singer Martha Modl was born in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1912. She worked as a secretary and book-keeper before starting to study singing part-time at the Nuremberg Conservatory in 1940. She made her debut in 1942.

Opera singer Rita Hunter was born in Wallasey, England, in 1933. She joined the Sadler's Wells Chorus in 1954, moving to the chorus of the Carl Rosa Opera Company in 1956.
