Refugees still wait for UK to open the door
Article Abstract:
Leeds, England charity Alert organised a convoy to bring 170 Bosnian refugees to Britain. They informed the Foreign Office and had permission, as long as they provided accommodation, but since then the government changed its mind and will not grant visas. The Bosnians are waiting in southern Austria in the hope that they will be able to start a new life in England. Their homes were burnt and their possessions were stolen. They were taken to detention camps and walked miles to escape the Serbs.

Tolerance survives Sarajevo's bombs
Article Abstract:
The people of Sarajevo continue to improvise and live despite the year-long siege and terrible conditions. About 300,000 survived the winter of 1992 although there was hardly any food and no water in the city. About a fifth are ethnic Serbs, but they are not nationalists. UN food parcels are invaluable as Bosnian dinars only buy bread. Everything is available on the black market. The brewery and the daily newspaper Oslobodenje survived.
