Robert Washington
Article Abstract:
Potter and educator Robert Washington showed talent as an artist from an early age. He entered Goldsmiths' College in London, England, in 1930 to study painting, and then moved to the Royal College of Art. He later studied pottery and taught at Derby College of Art. After the second world war, he returned to teaching ceramics at Derby College of Art, but also maintained his own studio. He was later appointed Art Inspector for Essex.

Pottery collector and writer William Ismay was born in Wakefield, England, in 1910. He developed an interest in studio pottery in the 1950s, and eventually accumulated a collection of several thousand pieces.
