Samurai of Harpenden
Article Abstract:
Drum'n'bass musician Photek does not believe that he has betrayed the roots of techno. He dislikes receiving attention from intense, obsessive fans, but his work is undoubtedly intense and obsessive in nature. He spends a great deal of time in the recording studio, and often takes weeks to produce complex break-beats and atmospheric techno-loops. He watched Kurosawa's epic 'Ran' many times while making the album 'Modus Operandi,' which has sold more than 100,000 copies.

Riveting: metal men find marriage and melody
Article Abstract:
Marriage has some very attractive elements, according to James Hetfield, guitarist and lyricist with rock group Metallica. He used to have a reputation for being very loud and aggressive, but he has now calmed down a lot. This has also been the case for Lars Ulrich, the group's drummer and co-lyricist. Like Hetfield, he has recently married, and now feels much more self-confident. The group's new album, 'Reload,' is to be released on Nov 17, 1997.
