The outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the UK is presenting significant challenges for staff at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF). Farmers are particularly concerned that MAFF officials are not acting more rapidly to arrange the disposal of slaughtered animals.
