The Government must listen to our fears about GM food

Article Abstract:

The issue of genetically modified food is uniting people from many different backgrounds against the UK government, which does not seem to be listening to their fears. Prime Minister Tony Blair has made a mistake in being too optimistic about the potential benefits of genetically modified food, and now people are very unwilling to believe what he says on this subject. Blair is reported to be very frustrated by the way his message about the safety of genetically modified food is being ignored. However, he is in danger of subscribing to the mythology that he cannot possibly be shown to be wrong.

Some observers feel that this approach is too interventionist, but it is important to be aware that UK society as a whole abandons vulnerable young people, who are then in danger of becoming criminals. The government is placing strong emphasis on training for young people, but it is vital that this training is relevant to the needs of the labour market.
