So just who are Tony's cronies?
Article Abstract:
The UK Conservative party is seeking to gain political advantage by attacking the close circle of allies and advisers around Prime Minister Tony Blair. Conservative party leader William Hague has implied that Blair has allowed a small clique to develop around him which believes that it should not be subject to reproach or scrutiny. Controversy on this issue threatens to damage the Labour party's carefully manipulated image of not being vulnerable to the more dubious aspects of politics.

The Westminster set will never be a match for the Mayfair set
Article Abstract:
Politicians in the UK seem unaware of the potentially negative aspects of their relationship with the business community. New Labour was correct in abandoning the misguided hostility towards business that entered mainstream party culture in the 1970s and 1980s. However, it has not yet implemented a viable process for scrutinizing commercial lobbying. Ordinary people are unlikely to believe politicians who claim that their decisions are not influenced by their connections with wealthy business supporters.
