BAe merger signals end of Jetstream 61
Article Abstract:
British Aerospace (BAe) will stop production of its loss-making Jetstream 61 aircraft following the merger of its regional aircraft activities with French Italian concern ATR. The two companies will initially bring together their marketing, sales and customer services activities, with ATR remaining responsible for finances and industrial development. The joint venture could later be expanded to include other manufacturers.

Time to step aside after an industrial revolution

GKN has come to the end of a lengthy restructuring process, according to Sir David Lees, who is stepping aside as the company's chairman to become part time, non-executive chairman. The company is in a strong financial position, and has reached its highest ever level in the FT-SE 100. It has made a number of divestments, and is now focusing on defence, business services and automotive operations.
