The UK government is clearly taking an extremely pragmatic approach to policy-making at all levels. This is reflected in the revelation that it may consider full or partial privatization as an option for London Underground PLC. Government ministers are facing severe spending restraints, and it is therefore not unnatural that they are considering seeking input from the private sector. A similarly pragmatic approach is being adopted in relation to the National Health Service.
