The divine Mr Hannon
Article Abstract:
Neil Hannon is a musician who set up The Divine Comedy, a pop group which produces music that aims to possess style, wit and celverness. Hannon sees himself as good at tasks involving style, but lacking a major idea, though he underwent a reaction against American music from the age of 12-years-old. He takes a message from John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' and subverts it to become 'Middle Class Heroes', using pop music in a provocative way and taking the stance of a romantic who is doomed.
