The Queen bows to her subjects
Article Abstract:
There has been considerable criticism from the general public in the UK that the Royal Family has not been sensitive to the deep grief felt by ordinary people about the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. The pressure of public opinion has forced the Royal Family to make considerable changes to the arrangements for the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, and related events. The Union flag will fly from Buckingham Palace at half mast after the Queen has left for the funeral service, for example, and the Queen will make a broadcast to the nation.

More emotion, less ceremony
Article Abstract:
The funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, will be a celebration of her life, and as such will not necessarily follow Royal convention. No members of the Royal Family will speak, and emphasis will be placed on the causes she supported. Elton John will sing a specially rewritten version of his song 'Candle in the Wind,' and the tribute will be given by Earl Spencer, her brother. Her two sisters will read poems, and a Bible reading will be given by Prime Minister Tony Blair.
