The voters of Tatton can now judge
Article Abstract:
It would be very interesting if the UK Labour party and Liberal Democrats were to go ahead with threats to run a single anti-sleaze candidate against Conservative MP Neil Hamilton, who is alleged to have been involved in corrupt political practices, in the constituency of Tatton, England. Such a candidate would be most successful if he or she were to focus on claims that Hamilton lied to deputy prime minister Michael Heseltine and that he failed to disclose income to the Inland Revenue. The issue of whether bribes were taken would not really have to be given much attention in such a campaign.

The end of a grubby affair
Article Abstract:
Former UK Conservative party ministers Neil Hamilton and Tim Smith accepted money in return for asking questions in the House of Commons, according to a report by Sir Gordon Downey, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards. Both men received money from Mohamed al-Fayed, the owner of Harrods, and then tried to conceal this fact. Hamilton remains unrepentant, and has stated that he will take legal action to clear his name if he can afford to. The report is also critical of three other former MPs.
