Today's MPs are a bunch of toothless sycophants
Article Abstract:
The UK's Labour government has so far been characterized by MPs being extremely sycophantic. Backbench MPs on both sides of the House of Commons generally meekly accept manipulation by their whips and show very little independent thought. Many backbench MPs spend a great deal of time on constituency work, which is to their credit, but doubts can be raised about whether this should be their priority. It is now time for MPs to become more questioning and cynical.
