These animals are dying out. And all because the lady loves shahtoosh
Article Abstract:
Trade in shahtoosh, the wool of the Tibetan antelope, has been illegal in most of the world since 1976, but remains legal in the Indian state of Kashmir, where both shahtoosh and cashmere are woven. The authorities in Kashmir believe that banning the trade in shahtoosh would have a negative impact on the Kashmiri people. They also claim that there is no evidence that the trade in shahtoosh is having a negative impact on numbers of Tibetan antelope. However, it seems that Tibetan antelope are being killed in large numbers as demand for shahtoosh in the western world increases.

A river runs through it...
Article Abstract:
The Brahmaputra river plays a key role in everyday life in the state of Assam, India. All of the state's low-lying areas are vulnerable to the flooding of this river, but the river's behaviour is particularly important for Majuli, the largest riverine island in the world. Visitors to Assam wishing to travel by ferry on the Brahmaputra will have to be prepared to be patient, as ferry timetables have to be very flexible because of the unpredictable nature of the river.
