Top-secret files lift the lid on Cold War espionage
Article Abstract:
New information has been gained regarding the impact on the UK of Donald McLean, Guy Burgess and Kim Philby, who passed many UK security secrets to the former Soviet Union, following the opening to the public of previously secret documents relating to spying. The documents indicate that these three men were extremely active, and that they had a severe impact on relations between the US and UK security services. Documents from a programme established in the US in 1945 to check and decipher Soviet transmissions have also been released.

Echoes of a historic mutiny
Article Abstract:
The grievances which led to a mutiny by UK sailors on Apr 16 1797 are still important issues in the armed forces. They are now being addressed by the Colours Association, which is the closest equivalent to a trades union in the armed forces. This organisation is campaigning for index-linked pay and pensions and new arrangements for war disability payments. It has the support of large numbers of active servicemen and veterans.

Duke who just could not be beastly to the Nazis
Article Abstract:
Official papers released recently in the UK indicate that the Duke of Windsor had some sympathy towards Germany during the early part of the Second World War. His attitude encouraged the SS to launch 'Operation Willi,' which was designed to lure the Duke on to Spanish territory, where he would have been kidnapped. It appears that the 1945 Labour government made great efforts to cover up the Duke's feelings towards Germany.
