Trouble with static
Article Abstract:
Radio 3 has always had a minority audience - 2% of the population - and quality programming. The national commercial station Classic FM commences in late 1992, competing with Radio 3 and causing it to reorganise its schedules. Nicholas Kenyon, Controller since Mar 1992, inherited some changes such as the broadcasting of cricket commentaries. Breakfast time programming includes news and traffic information with conversation and music as does 'In Tune' from 5-7:30 pm. Audiences fear popularisation will lead to the station's demise.

Unlikely partners in crime
Article Abstract:
Reginald Hill's novel 'A Pinch of Snuff' was first seen as a television series with comedians Hale and Pace playing the parts of policemen Pascoe and Dalziel. They were widely regarded as miscast, and it seemed likely that there would not be another series. However, a new series starring Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan is now to be broadcast. This uses music by Barrington Pheloung and scripts by Malcolm Bradbury and Alan Plater.
