Nearly time to make your decisions
Article Abstract:
Parents who are faced with the decision of which secondary child to send their child to should take into account a number of key factors. They should consider their child's interests and hobbies and whether their child prefers solitary activities or participation. They should take their child's own views into account, and should take advice from their child's junior school. Attention should be given to how secondary schools measure their performance and the ways in which they seek to boost attainment.

Article Abstract:
Many children in UK primary schools find it difficult to speak and listen effectively. They are unable to evaluate what is being said in the classroom, and do not have the necessary skills to ask for further information if what is being said is not sufficient. It cannot be assumed that verbal communication skills will automatically develop, and speaking and listening should therefore be formally assessed. This will make it possible to offer remedial assistance to children with problems in these areas.
