Yourmoney.com, the personal finance arm of FT. com, has had informal talks with Thisismoney.co.uk, the online subsidiary of the Daily Mail newspaper. Yourmoney.com belongs to media company Pearson which is believed to want to grow web business via joint ventures rather than acquisition. Thisismoney.com agrees there will be consolidation in the online personal finance sector in 2000. Analysts predict Internet service providers will be first, followed by Internet content providers which will reap economies of scale.

Although the company has refused to confirm that is in financial difficulties it is thought that it is in need of some GB[pound] 800,000 to restore its fortunes.
