Consumers in the UK will be purchasing the majority of their insurance policies via the Internet within five years, with many companies offering the advantage of instant cover. An increasing number of insurance firms are setting up their own websites and linking up with Internet brokers to market products directly to the customer. Consumers are also using online brokers, such as 1st Quote or Screen Trade, to save time gathering quotations. Both companies will immediately recommend several competitive quotations from various firms, and will offer the chance to purchase a policy online or via the telephone.
