UK: LOCKHEED OBTAINS ATC CONTRACT AT PRESTWICK
Article Abstract:
US-based Lockheed Martin has obtained a contract worth GB[pound] 50mn to install an electronic system at the Prestwick air traffic control (ATC) centre. Lockheed Martin was responsible for installing a similar system at the Swanwick facility, due to open during winter 2001-2002 six years behind schedule. Meanwhile, the government intents to retain 49% of the organisation running the ATC centres, National Air Traffic Services (Nats). However, the government would be willing to reduce its ownership to 25% should investment have to be financed via a new share issue.
