US: EXTRA CURRICULA ACTIVITIES BENEFIT CHILDREN
Article Abstract:
Research conducted over 16 years by the University of Arizona in the US suggests that children partaking in extra-curricula activities, such as drama groups and sports perform better in life than those solely concentrating on academic studies. The study was conducted on 2,200 subjects aged 11 to 27 years who were interviewed at the ages of 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 21 and 24. The research was able to determine long-term life patterns from the type of extra-curricular activity undertaken, such as academic achievement and drug abuse. Extra-curricula activities were seen as giving teenagers the ability to formulate goals and be a success.
