It is becoming increasingly widely recognised that being adopted can have a severe psychological impact on even the very youngest children. Babies who have an abnormal early attachment experience are unable to receive affection, and this can negatively affect their later development. Attachment disorder can even develop when the baby is still in the womb, especially if the pregnancy is concealed or an abortion is attempted.
