United all over the world
Article Abstract:
Manchester United Football Club has established itself as an extremely strong international brand. However, it is uncertain whether the Manchester United brand will prove very resilient if the team does not continue to win its matches. There are a number of potential new markets, including China and the US. However, rapidly rising wage costs could cause the club to lose control of its cost base, and the club must address the issue of a successor to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who is due to retire in Jun 2002.

Host of copycats clouds Dixons' Freeserve float
Article Abstract:
A key issue regarding the planned partial stock market flotation by electrical retailer Dixons of its Freeserve Internet subsidiary is how many of Freeserve's 1.5 million subscribers are regular, active Internet users. The value of offering free Internet access is declining as more services of this kind are made available, and attention is now focusing on other issues, such as the distribution channel from which Internet service companies take their members.
