Universities slowly wake to the profit motive
Article Abstract:
The trend towards UK universities becoming involved in teaching business skills is set to become firmly established. The links between universities and entrepreneurship will also become stronger as universities act as a breeding ground for new businesses. Managing the relationship between employees' academic work and their business activities will become vital to the future of universities. Attention must be given to establishing a system in which the business activities of some university staff will benefit every university department, even those with no potential for business ventures.

So, who is worth the most?
Article Abstract:
It has becoming increasingly common in the UK for the wealthiest people to be those who have developed and used specialist skills in areas such as sport or writing. Using specialist skills gives you control over your own destiny, and allows you to make money rapidly. In contrast, running a top company has become much less attractive as a way of becoming wealthy. Chief executives are under a great deal of pressure from shareholders and competitors, and their company may still be unsuccessful even if they do everything correctly.

America is being invaded by rugged Western values
Article Abstract:
Western values, which emphasize local civil responsibility, self-reliance and minimal intervention by the federal government, will enter the political mainstream in the US if Texas Governor George Bush Jr becomes the next President. For many years, the legalistic blame culture has been the dominant feature in US politics. However, a new Bush administration would have to address the heavy burden of legalism, shifting towards a political culture in which the individualist aspect of American values dominates.
