Article Abstract:
University administrator Walter Grave studied Modern Languages at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, England, from 1920. He obtaining his BA degree with a double first in the Tripos in 1924, and became a Research Fellow of Emmanuel College in 1926, gaining his PhD in 1927. He was appointed as a University Lecturer and College Tutor in 1936, and was Senior Proctor of the university from 1938 to 1939. He served with the Ministry of Labour and National Service from 1940 to 1943, and then became the Registrary of Cambridge University. After nine years, be became Principal of the University College of the West Indies.

Nortel plans 600 UK job cuts
Article Abstract:
Northern Telecom (Nortel) has announced the closure of a cellular telephone equipment plant in Paignton, with the loss of about 530 jobs. In addition, 56 sales and marketing posts will be lost at the company's offices in Maidenhead. Nortel, based in Canada, is the sixth largest telecoms equipment maker in the world. After the closures, the company will still have about 7,400 staff in the UK. *
