What about the pilchard?
Article Abstract:
There are significant problems associated with using human moral values when discussing animal welfare. It is not possible, for example, to determine whether an animal is suffering or not when it is killed, so this cannot be used as a criteria for deciding which animals should be protected. Animal welfare has become a fashionable cause, but many of those who claim to support animal rights in fact have very misguided views about nature. They see nature as uncomplicated and just, whereas in fact it is based on behaviour which is unacceptable according to human moral values.

England-born Ian Wilmut is largely responsible for the birth of a Finn-Dorset lamb named Dolly, the first mammal produced by cloning.
