What kind of regime refuses to let a dying man visit his wife?
Article Abstract:
The military regime in Burma has denied Michael Aris, the dying husband of pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi, the right to visit her. The regime, which is desperately seeking to remove Aung San Suu Kyi from the country, states that she must visit him in the UK. Aris is strongly committed to the struggle for democracy in Burma, and respects his wife's great reluctance to abandon the ordinary people of Burma. It is wrong that Aung San Suu Kyi should be expected to make the choice between her people's struggle and the needs of her husband.
