When success is in their genes
Article Abstract:
There are a considerable number of examples of outstanding ability passing from one generation to the next among well known people in the UK. Cricketer Ian Botham, for example, is now seeing his son Liam begin to excel at the same sport, while racing driver Damon Hill is following in the footsteps of his father Graham and Joely and Natasha Redgrave are both pursuing successful acting careers, following the example of their mother Vanessa. However, there are also cases where the children of famous parents have found it very difficult to be successful in their own right.

Working mothers at bottom of heap
Article Abstract:
Many single mothers in the UK are keen to return to work, contrary to widely-held beliefs, according to the Council for One Parent Families. However, they find it impossible to do so because of inadequate childcare facilities. They want to ensure that their children have security and high quality care, but often find that nursery places are in very high demand. Government statistics indicate that only 11% of single parents with a child under five worked 24 hours or more a week in 1993, compared with half of those with teenage children.
