Where to do as the Romans did
Article Abstract:
There are at least 12 mineral springs at Baden Baden, the most upmarket spa town in Germany. Visitors to the town can still see the ruins of the original Roman baths, and can also use indoor and outdoor pools at the modern Caracalla spa, constructed in 1985. It is also possible to undergo a lengthy sauna and massage procedure at the more traditional Friedrichsbad, known as the Roman-Irish baths. Other attractions in Baden Baden include the casino at the Kurhaus.

Cross-canal hopping
Article Abstract:
The area around the Willebroeck Canal in Brussels, Belgium, which opened in 1561, is undergoing a revival. Many of its former industrial buildings are being converted for cultural use, and a new promenade area has been constructed. There are now bars and restaurants, and it is possible to take boat trips on the canal. It is particularly worth visiting Tour & Taxis, the former customs house, an extremely large brick and wrought-iron structure.
