Why rock chicks are no longer under the thumb of any guy
Article Abstract:
Women have traditionally had a subservient position in rock music culture. They have been regarded as existing only to boost the egos of male rock stars, and have often been portrayed in rock music as victims. However, this situation began to change when male rock stars started to either drink too much and make themselves look ridiculous or to take themselves very seriously but still look ridiculous. This development gave women the opportunity to establish themselves firmly in rock music culture in a much more positive way. Indeed, the five most popular albums of the 1990s are all by women.

Poor left begging as stores leave town
Article Abstract:
Many of the UK's supermarkets are moving out of inner city areas. Similarly, smaller local shops are closing down. This trend means that poor people living in inner city areas are finding it increasingly difficult to buy inexpensive, healthy food. Supermarket chain Safeway has stated that it has left deprived areas because of problems with crime and vandalism. Tesco denies allegations that supermarkets are targeting the wealthier social groups, and points out that it still has stores on housing estates.
