A brain drain out of the US turns into a gusher for California
Article Abstract:
Several scientists are leaving California and going to other countries for their work after the President Bush announced that federally funded stem cell biologists in the US would have to work under tight restrictions. One of the scientists is Roger Pedersen whose leaving US proved to be a good career move thus making him co-director of a new $30m stem cell institute.

China and UK have created generally favorable regulatory and ethical environments, coupled with strong research bases. China is well represented in embryonic stem cell work with at least 10 Embryonic Stem cell lines established in the country and is working on therapeutic cloning.
